Francis Campbell: Biography

I'm a Newcastle Upon Tyne based acoustic folk guitarist. I arrived at folk music a few years ago from a love of music in general (having had a background before that in pop/rock songwriting). What attracts and excites me most about the folk 'idiom' is the fun, festivity, poignancy, musicality, lively banter, wit & unshrinking engagement with the harsh realities of everyday life. I have recorded 2 self-released CD albums ('A World Of Change' in 2006 & 'Heading North' in 2007) so far and hope to have further music available, either in a solo capacity or in collaboration with other folkies, in the not too distant future..
Guitar influences include: John Martyn, Michael Hedges, Martin Simpson, Pete Townshend, Pat Metheny, Jimmy Page, Steve Hackett, John Renbourn, Pat Kirtley & Ed Boyd among many others.

Current Instruments:

Stonebridge DS 22CM Dreadnought guitar. N K Forster Model S guitar. Ashbury Octave Mandolin.
